MonStim Help Library¶
Purpose¶
This is the in-app reference for MonStim Analyzer. Links open in the same help window; use Back to return to the prior topic. MonStim can support the complete path from curation through plotting and export, or provide a structured, reviewable handoff to a separate analysis pipeline.
Start here¶
- Getting started — a typical first-analysis workflow.
- Understanding the data hierarchy — what recordings, sessions, datasets, and experiments mean.
- Troubleshooting — symptoms, checks, and recovery steps.
- Application guide — fuller feature and menu reference.
- Experiment import — required folder and file layout.
- Importer add-ons — safely detect and import supported non-MonStim acquisition streams.
- Updating MonStim — signed updates, download choices, rollback, and data protection.
- Analysis profiles — save and reuse analysis choices.
- Settings Center — program behavior, global analysis defaults, and profile management.
Everyday analysis¶
- Latency windows — timing windows and hierarchy-wide changes.
- Analysis methods — exact amplitude formulas, units, and limits.
- EMG processing and transformations — filtering, rectification, and polarity.
- M-max algorithm — plateau detection and normalization limits.
- Extrema peak-to-trough methods — overlap behavior and extrema ownership.
- Recording exclusion editor — review and bulk exclusion.
- Exporting results — export plotted or bulk results with enough context to reuse them.
Settings and data integrity¶
- Configuration reference — every shipped analysis default, unit, and implementation effect.
- Diagnostic notices — data-quality notices and follow-up.
- UI scaling guide — display and multi-monitor sizing.
Settings and Defaults Note:¶
MonStim default settings are not universally valid constants. Validate cutoff frequencies, latency windows, stimulus spacing, and M-max settings against your own acquisition protocol, muscle(s), species, and analysis plan before treating an output as a scientific conclusion.
